About Our Pastor
Suffragan Bishop Green was baptized in Jesus Name during a Massachusetts State Council
Young Peoples revival held at the Emmanuel Temple Pentecostal Church then located at 150
Humboldt Avenue, Roxbury, MA in 1944. He received the baptism of the Holy Ghost during the
Christmas holiday season at home; witnessed by his mother, Sis Mary Green, and his older
brother Eld. Earl Green, now of Springfield, MA.
He had an experience we read about in the Book of 1 Samuel, Chapter 3. As God called
Samuel while a lad in the house of Eli, so God again manifested Himself and called John. After
twice answering what he thought was his mother's call, she realized that the Lord wanted him
to carry His Word.
As a young man, Bishop Green desired to become an engineer and attended Northeastern
University until he entered military service during the Korean Crisis. While serving in Korea,
he was called to minister to the soldiers that attended the church services. He met several
Pentecostal brothers and God started using him for His service.
After returning home in 1954 he accepted the call to the ministry under the leadership of Bishop
Percy Jordan and after his passing, District Elder John H. Booker while attending Emmanuel
Temple. District Elder Oswald T. Bellamy was a great encourager to our pastor and was the
first one to have him preach for the Brotherhood Auxiliary of Emmanuel Temple and also the
late District Elder William N. Weeks took him to Martha's Vineyard on many occasions to minister to the saints there.
After the passing of District Elder Benjamin Green of this here at First Pentecostal , District Elder Bellamy who was the overseer of the Cape and Bishop Thomas Weeks, our diocesan at the time asked Bishop Green to continue to minster to the small band of saints here until they could get a pastor. After 10 months of interim pastor, Bishop Green was installed as the pastor of our church. God had blessed our congregation for the past 46 years and we pray He will keep our pastor in good health to continue the work he is doing here.
Bishop and Evangelist Green have had many experiences since the coming to Cape Cod; some very serious and others quite amusing, but all to the glory of God. PASTOR, WE LOVE YOU AND WILL CONTINUALLY PRAY FOR YOU.
